I've found over the years that the reason most people avoid the term "life insurance" is because it reminds them that they're mortal and that they, nor their loved ones, are going to be around forever. It's just a fact of life though and you're going to have to get over it fast in order to make sure that you don't become a burden on your loved ones. Yes, I said burden on your loved ones. That's exactly what can happen if you don't get life insurance coverage on yourself and have no other assets that your family could use to take care of your final expenses with.
I've heard of this happening time and again. A person passes and leaves it up to the family to take care of THEIR affairs. Since some families simply can't afford it all at once they end up signing a promisary contract stating that they'll pay for it. Well, a few months pass by and they run into a bit of financial struggles and before you know it, they're standing in court getting a judgement slapped on them. They could have any one of their assets taken in order to pay for those final expenses that weren't even there's. Could you even imagine doing this to your spouse or your parents?
